Go away, I'm busy

Just when I go to bragging that the hardest part of my workday is getting out of bed, I have a hard day at work and get forced in to work today -- the first of my two days off. Karma strikes again, I guess. The oldest, most decrepit machine at the Ol' Post Office decided to kick up its legs and fall over dead, so I have been getting all greasy and dirty trying to get it back up and running.

HEY, DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE THIS WIRE GOES?
What else is new? Not much. Plundered Booty the novel is up to nearly sixteen thousand words. I have not added a single word to my other novel in progress in over a month, so maybe that means I'm officially only writing one novel now. Hope you're happy Debbie.

The name the new Tuesday blog is going well. Gotta say Tuesdays with Travis, the suggestion brought by Mr. Shife is the leader right now, but Cher has her eye on the prize and she has come up with some good ones as well.

Friday and Saturday(I talked my boss into an extra day off for making me work today) me and the family are taking a quick trip over to Albuquerque so I can fulfill my promise to take them to the zoo and aquarium.

I'll leave you with this thought presented to me by a coworker. Used to be, all hurricanes given feminine names. Now days we get Dean and others with masculine names. Does this make them himacanes instead of hurricanes?

I am always happy, but happier still when proved right. Thanks, Travis and I promise, you will not regret turning Plundered Booty into the goldmine I said it'd be. Hmm, another contest! The game's afoot!

I was on a softball team when I was about 10 or 12 and someone had the brilliant idea to call us the Her'icanes. I was not amused.

I used to know the meteorlogical reason for hurricane names but in my old age, I forgot.

Which I guess is a pretty pointless thing to comment with...oh well :)

Damnit Travis,

I didn't even think about the weather service giving away our (females in general) namesake over to the men...

Women are like hurricanes, they come in with some wind up their ass, take all your belongings and destroy your life on the way out..

Men, well, that's a whole different subject.

Himacanes. That's funny...

Did you fix the machine?

JM said...

Is the machine fixed now?
There was a reason that Hurricanes were named after girls, but like Brooke, I can't remember.

Travis- beverage warning next time. Ok? (I, I, I, I, think you need a new one...)

I fixed the machine ... for a while. Heard a nasty rumor it gasped and died ten minutes after I left, but what do I care ... I'm off for two days!

it's probably just really dumb that i am overjoyed to be mentioned in the same sentence as Mr.Shife.

i don't think i even know 16000 words.

i think you should marry debbie travis and then take her last name.

I can't remember why they name most of the hurricanes after women--I too know there is a reason. BUT my husband says it's because women are unpredictable, out of control and when it's all over they take the house AND the car!
I don't know what he is thinking but for the first time EVER people know how to spell my name.

Where did all of these people come from? Hey Deborah lets have a congrats party for Travis at Alcapoco's sometime soon. Right now in-service is about to kill me. I have been in a two day work shop on Reading with Meaning. I have had enough schema and all to fill me for the year. My class room is a disaster school starts monday. But hey let's go out of town...sounds smart.

Sorry Trav I do not have a name for your Tuesdays...go with it though, there is tons to tell.

The previous post came from my wife. She forgot to log me off before posting.

Don't say that Steve, you'll ruin my reputation.

Cher- Debbie is already married as am I, but thanks for playing matchmaker. Most times I can use all the help I can get.

i bet your wife is your backbone just as i am Rob's.

I love your writing and want to be your editor just so you will always have to run shit past me. You are very talented. I would concider it an honor if you created a character after me one day.....but i must have creative control...blah blah blah, and i must be as egotistical on paper as i am in real life... we may as well be talking sports now...yes, sports with a side of Mr.Shife please. Roar.

Hurricane Dean??? If they're going to use men's names for hurricanes shouldn't they be a touch more masculine like, yo, Hurricane Bubba or da Hurricane Spike?

Dean wussed out anyway.

Oh Alburquerque! I've always wanted to go to New Mexico! I hope you take lots of pictures and post some up from your trip! I love Native American art and culture and desert and pueblo scenes. Wish I could go...

Great news on your manuscript and good idea to focus on one at a time. I tried alternating between 2 story lines once and ended up confusing plot lines and character traits and making a huge ass mess.
